Overlooking a bird sanctuary and in a secure complex this modern holiday house is centrally situated in the Sedgefield village - walking distance to the shops, restaurants, the lagoon and a few minutes drive to a choice of beautiful beaches. This self catering accommodation has a spacious open plan living area, 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. A large covered patio onto a garden allows you to enjoy the outdoors. Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, a garage with a washing machine, dryer and bar fridge and a weber braai. There are 2 TV's, DSTV (bring your own card) and a DVD player. All linen and bath towels are included but please bring your own beach towels. Servicing of the house during your stay can arranged at an additional cost. Enjoy a walk around the bird sanctuary, the awesome sunsets, views of the Outeniqua Mountains, a braai under the starlit sky and let the kids play safely in the complex's own jungle gym & play area. Kiewietjie Cottage offers a selection of self catering accommodation in Sedgefield, Garden Route. Located in the beautiful seaside town of Sedgefield and offers guests three comfortable furnished self-catering units. The 2 bedroom units have a view on the lagoon and mountains. There are 2 x 2 bedroom self catering units and a bachelor unit. We are within walking distance of the Sedgefield lagoon and beach and restaurant. Each self catering unit has it's own private entrance and can accommodate between 2 - 6 people. The units are open-plan and are fully equipped with fridge/freezer, stove with oven. The bachelor unit has a 2 plate stove. Microwave and toaster and kettle etc. TV with Dstv with access. The 2 bedroom units have a bathroom with bath and shower above the bath and a separate toilet. There is a sleeper couch in the 2 bedroom units. The bachelor unit only has a shower, with double bed and bun3k-bed. All 3 self catering unit have their own private braai area on the patio. The bachelor has undercover parking and the other units have lockup garages. There are outside steps from the garages to the units. There are no steps from the bachelor unit to the outside. A stop over in Sedgefield makes perfect sense. Sedgefield is located equidistant between Knysna and Wilderness, it makes the perfect base from which to explore the Garden Route. Guests can also do bars fishing at Groenvlei lake and go swimming and fishing at Swartvlei lake.

Sedgefield

Sedgefield is situated in the banks of the Swartvlei Lagoon. The lagoon offers safe swimming, fishing and canoeing. Bird-watchers will not be disappointed, particularly at Kingfisher Creek, a reed-lined channel connecting the sea to the lagoon.

Hikers can take a stroll along Sedgefield beach, west, to Gericke's Point. For campers and caravanners there are several sites available in Sedgefield, but it is advisable to book early, because the park is almost always full during peak season, December to January.

Sedgefield has a horse-riding center that caters for all riders, even beginners. The riders can select which trail they want to follow, and can select from the lake, the mountains, the beach, or the forest.

Close to Sedgefield, towards the east, you will find the Goukamma Nature Reserve. The reserve houses the Garden Route's only freshwater lake, the Groen Vlei. The vlei is a very popular boating and fishing area. For hikers several trails are available in the area. The three most popular trails are the 14 km Goukamma-Groenvlei trail, the 4km Lake Trail, and the 8km Goukamma Nature Reserve Circuit.

The sandy beaches along the 13km seafront are beautiful but swimmers have to exercise caution due to the strong currents and unpredictable backwash.
