Mosselkraker 4 offers self catering accommodation in the seaside town of Gouritzmond, approximately 45km away from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape's Garden Route. Mosselkraker 4 is a spacious, well-appointed log home with everything you need for a relaxed, safe holiday in a cosy, neat little seaside village away from big town hustle and bustle.
The double-storey house, sleeping 8, features the following:
Ground floor
3 bedrooms ( 2+2+4) 3 bathrooms (2 with shower and bath, one shower only, main bedroom en suite) Excellent beds and mattresses Spacious, neat, built-in cupboards Quality linen and towels provided, bring own beach towels. Laundry room with automatic washing machine, steam iron.
First floor
Spacious open plan living room 24 sq m balcony featuring tranquill sea views. Toilet. Kitchen equipped for a serious cook with cooking hob, eye-level oven, microwave, good quality pots, crockery and cutlery, electric beater and toaster. Cast iron pot for potjiekos. Fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven, Indoor braai. Comfortable areas for reading and relaxing. TV with OV-HD-decoder. DVD player. Well-stocked bookshelf. Good lighting. Dining table and chairs. Ceiling fan.
No smoking indoors. No pets. Regrettably not wheelchair-friendly.
Gouritsmond has two well-stocked general dealers, also providing fuel, two liquor stores and restaurants.The area is very popular for fishing (permits obtainable locally). The beach offers a good bathing area plus a stretch of rocky beach with lovely pools and a tidal pool for swimming. An easy hiking trail has been laid out around the lagoon. It is safe to go for long walks.
The town offers a prolific bird population, including a breeding area for the endangered black African oystereater. Owls are common and kiewiets (plovers) and guineafowls are common visitors in the garden. (Bird book on bookshelf). Rabbits graze about in the early morning and tortoises are common - watch out for them when driving! Badgers and mongoose are also common, although not easily spotted. Binoculars will be handy.
Gouritzmond is 45 km away from Mossel Bay, featuring various attractions such as historical sites, well-equipped shops and restaurants and cage diving with sharks, The Diaz Museum, the prehistoric cave at Punt and the Post Office Tree are on your must-visit list. Mossel Bay is also the beginning of the famous Garden Route.
George is 100 km from Gouritzmond. To the other side is Stilbaai, 65 km away, offering lovely beaches and pre-historic caves. Albertinia is 35 km away on the N2-route and boasts a hotel well-known for its superb traditional meals. Whatever you choose to do, you will find the peace and tranquillity of Gouritzmond a precious experience.
